Marcie Telander, MA is a Professional Counselor with 35 years of private practice in Gunnison Valley. With compassion and commitment she offers a wide range of traditional, holistic, integrative, Expressive Arts and other psychotherapy approaches. She helps clients recognize their intrinsic strengths, building behaviors leading to well-being and transformation using Positive Psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques aligning mind, body, spirit. She is also a motivational Life Coach, hypnotherapy practitioner, with specialties including men's issues, relocation adjustment, women in transition, addictions, anxiety, depression, relationship building with individuals/couples/adolescents/families.

For Boomer members. This is a repeat of last year's first major hike. Approximately 1 hour travel time via car pool from South Parking Lot at Senior Center with prompt departure at 8 am. Day pack with snacks and water (at least 1 liter, 2 preferred). The hike is 4 mile round trip (2 down, 2 up) rated strenuous (up from moderately strenuous last year by Park Service). Plan on 1 hour down, 2 hours back up (maybe a bit more for some).
For Boomer members only. Join local naturalist Arden Anderson for a relaxed morning of hiking and looking for birds at several spots through the valley. The hiking will be easy on relatively level ground and may cover a total of 2 miles or so. The birds get up early so we will meet at the Recreation Center parking lot near the Boomer’s Room at 7:20 am . From there we will consolidate into a couple of vehicles and drive to several sites to hike and bird. Bring binoculars and a bird book if you have them, along with water, a snack and clothing appropriate for the weather. It would also be nice to bring a couple of bucks to help share the cost of gas for the drivers. We should get back to Gunnison by 11:30 and if you would like to join us we will head over to the Palisades Restaurant for lunch.
Each hike will be limited to 10 participants so get your RSVP in. This is the first of three bird hikes two more coming up May 3rd and 10th.

The Crested Butte and Gunnison Wellness Fairs will feature low-cost blood tests, however this service will be on a first come first served basis for participants and reservations will not be available. Please remember to fast for 12 hours prior to your draw, but drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Our Wellness Events will also offer health screenings such as Blood Pressure, Bone Density, Body Mass Index, and additional health and safety information.

We will be traveling in the CB senior bus with 10 folks capacity. Newly remodeled museum and reports have it that it is a great experience. Located on the original 8.65-acre homestead site of Chief Ouray. The museum complex includes the Chief Ouray Memorial Park, native plants garden, shady picnic areas, walking paths, teepees, and a memorial to the Spanish conquistadors.
$5 for museum and $5 for driver. Will eat in Montrose to be decided by participants.

We will be utilizing 3 different online resources to support us in this challenge.
21 Days of Meditation, Nutrition & Fitness
-For Meditation we will be joining millions in the Chopra Center's 21 Day Meditation Experience: Oprah & Deepak: Shedding the Weight; Mind, Body & Spirit
-For nutrition & fitness we will be following a streamable online fitness program (Workouts are only 30 minutes each day) with portion controlled nutrition (your own food!). Workouts can be done at any time during your day and at your home or gym.... airport or yoga mat in the desert... wherever you can access either streamable content or again you can download to your device so that you don't need WiFi to view.
-For accountability we will be using an app called "Challenge Tracker" which we will utilize to check in daily, talk about our progress, share our challenges & successes. You will also have the option to join a private Facebook accountability group.

Enjoy the warmth and delight of their remodeled pools. Leave the senior center at ten, lunch at The Daily Bread Montrose local restaurant that has yummy soups and sandwiches. Reasonable costs. Travel on to Ouray. Hot Pool is $14 unless you are over 75 then it is FREE! Bring ID along for these prices. 50 cents for locker if you want to lock up your stuff. Bring your own towel or rent one for $2. Clogs or shower shoes for walking to the pool. Varied temperatures for hot pools, really a nice remodel. Soak for an hour or so, prepare for trip home, back around 5:00
