Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy is neuromuscular retraining to correct tongue rest posture, swallowing and breathing. It is an interdisciplinary practice that works with the muscles of the lips, tongue, cheeks and face and their related functions.

It is used to treat

  • Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction

  • Restricted Frenulums (tongue and lip tie)

  • Malocclusion (crooked teeth)

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea

  • Snoring

  • Mouth Breathing and is used to

  • Improve facial aesthetics.

Therapy also helps eliminate parafunctional habits such as:

  • Thumb/digit sucking

  • Lip licking

  • Throat clearing and

  • Chronic stuffy noses.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy can be used prior to or during orthodontic treatment to help better the long-term results and lessen the likelihood of relapse after treatment.

I am also a Buteyko Breathing Practitioner and incorporate the Buteyko Breathing method into therapy for improved results.

Buteyko has been used successfully to help treat patients with asthma and allergy symptoms.

I work in partnership with other professionals to help patients regain function and optimal health.  It is my goal to educate patients on the importance of function and improve health in a comprehensive and affordable manner.

I meet with each patient to assess their individual needs and customize therapy accordingly.
